Friends not showing in Left4Dead

My friends asked me to play Left4Dead. I said sure. We all have xbox Ones. So i bought the game and installed it and then i joined xbox live gold and i friended my 3 friends and i see them all as friends on the xbox and they see me. But, when i launch
Left4dead, none of them show up in my friends list. About 20 random strangers show up. Similarly, my friends can’t find me as a friend on the list from within left4dead.

We also tried inviting each other to the game, but that didn’t work. My 3 friends can play just fine but i can’t figure out how to join them.

i realize that left4dead is an old xbox 360 game but it seems like it should work, right? I would appreciate any help you could provide.

Thanks, but the issue is this:

1) i can easily see my friends on the xbox

2) when i go into Left4Dead and “invite friends” to a game it shows a completely different list of people, none of whom are my friends

3) there appears to be no way to add friends from within the Left4Dead game. So how can i add my friebds?

i’m hoping that someone who still plays Left4Dead can help.

Hi, when in game, button push the home button to see the xbox tab, add your friends and them there at that tab! Have a good day and i hope that helped!

Me and a couple of friends started Left4Dead for the first time last night......very bad control scheme which annoyed us all lol. We grew used to them by the end of the session.
