Friends list not working in xbox menu?

So when I oress the xbox button and tap RB to go to the friends tab, it shows that I have no friends. As in the number is 0. I know I have friends added because I can search yhem in the ''Find someone" option and it shows that we're friends when I view
the friendship on their profile, but the friends list doesn't work. Games that show who's online and who's not (Destiny 2, CoD, PUBG, etc) all show the friends list and it works there just fine, but the menu that has to do with xbox and not the game doesn't
work. At least not properly. Also, when I try to add friends it shows the "Added" notice but they still don't show up there. Any way to solve this?

Thanks for responding with the latest update.

I'm sorry to hear that the first few troubleshooting suggestions were unsuccessful.

How long have you been experiencing this issue?

I'm thinking that maybe the issue that you're experiencing was caused by a failed console update.

Because of that, I would suggest, If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
reset on your console by doing the following:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select System.
Select Console info & updates.
Select Reset console. [KEEP MY GAMES AND APPS]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything and to save your games and apps; choose the latter.
