Friends don't appear in party channel in Fortnite

sometimes on fortnte the audio gliches out and what you need to do is before you go on fortnite start an xbox party up then load in to fortnite then go to your friends list then click Y then scroll down to audio channel then go xbox party chat to game xbox
party chat to game and that usually fixes it

what sometimes can fix it is if you start an xbox party then go on to fortnite and then go on to your friends list then tap Y to go on to audio settings and turn voice channel on to game or party chat not xbox party chat then click on xbox party chat game
chat again and it should be fixed

One thing, this message appears when you try to join the console party, right?

Have you tried starting Fortnite normally, finding your friend in the Fornite friends list and joining the game, and talking for the game instead of the console Party?

Hi - thanks so much for the reply. I haven't had chance to try all of these solutions yet but I will do.

Can you just clarify for me - could there be settings for Fortnite and XBox separately that might be conflicting with each other? In Fortnite his Voice Controls say Friends Only but when he enters a Party all of the microphones for his friends appear locked...

The kids already have a Turtle Beach heaset with separate game/voice channels. I don't mind them talking to people we know. Communication is necessary for a lot of games. Best solution is to monitor the friends list and restrict them to party chat with
friends only.
