Friends can't join me on Minecraft on Windows 10.

Hi everyone, there's this issue that I have had with Minecraft Bedrock when it comes to playing with my friends. I can join servers with no problem, but I can't enter my friends' world through the Joinable Friends in the Friends tab sometimes

The world of my friend would show up, and I can click to join, but most of the time it resulted in this:

I have tried searching for this on google and followed some instructions like allowing Minecraft through firewall, updating drivers, removing and adding my friend back in the list,... but nothing works. Please help me, thanks

Hello Dericka, thanks for your reply. I tried updating windows and my friends can join my world now. Thanks a lot! Do you know what is causing this by not updating windows? I’d like to know in case my friends can’t join me again in the future. Thanks

The cross play of Minecraft works as such,

The PC/MAC is separate from the other versions in terms of cross-play. As in the only way to join a game with console or mobile players (or Windows 10) is to play on a realm.

Console (Xbox and PS), Mobile and Windows 10 will all work without needing realms as long as your friends are online or on the same network as yourself.

It is only the PC/MAC version of the game that will require you to use realms to join each others game.

But his friends are on Xbox One edition and my son has the newest minecraft. Apparently they can't play together because they're on different versions?? That's what I'm trying to determine. They're not trying to join realms.

So... it appears you're having problems connecting to your friends worlds in Minecraft for Windows 10.

I would have them check their in-game settings in Minecraft under the main menu there, and make sure that Online play is enabled. Sometimes this is switched to being disabled and therefore they cannot join any online games and friends cannot join their game
either. Both you and your friends should check in Minecraft settings and make sure that Online play is enabled and friends are allowed to join. Then you can select which permissions you would like to enable for your friends when they join your world after
that.

I too am having a problem joining friends using XBOX Live. It used to work, recently it has failed. In MineCraft it shows my friend available, but when I attempt to join, it goes into a continuous loop "syncing pack with server". Client is iPad Air 2 with
latest iOS, Server is Windows 10 notebook with latest Windows Updates. Both are using MineCraft v1.1.5

Submitted bug report to Mojang, 25 Jul 17, no resolution as of this time.

Friends can't join me on Minecraft on Windows 10.
