Friends and Home Screen

I'm liking all of the new updates that are coming out revamping the friends app, but I think the major problem I have with it, is that it's an app. Apps have load time, and when you're playing a game, that load time seems to get longer, but you want it
to be faster to get back in the game. It's super fast getting to the Xbox One Dashboard home screen, which is where I think friends should be, at least favorite friends.

I should be able to go from Home to Store to Friends in 2 taps of the bumper. The app is good for seeing what your friends are up to, what achievements they've earned and what video clips they've uploaded. I like all of that stuff, but when you're looking
to do things fast and either get in a game or just see who of your friends is online, it's much faster just to have it front and center. If the 360 could do it with 3D avatars, I'm sure Xbox One could do it with simple display pictures. I just feel like it's
an obvious UI element . The Xbox 360 is the perfect example of a well done UI, and I feel like that should have been the starting point for the Xbox One. The functionality with Kinect might be better with the Xbox One, but the UI on the Xbox 360 feels far
great evolved.

Can not see friends list in game and home screen friends list not current.

 

Xbox 0ne Friends List issue

On your home screen is the friends tab showing if no press RT+LT+Y at the same time this refreshes the home screen.

 

No matter how you set it out, the friends list will always be an app. There's no way around that, everything is an app.

From what I could gather from your post, you'd like a slimmed down friends app. Something that would require 2 separate apps for the same function. One to display a simple list and another for in depth viewing. I can't really see this being worth the effort
and I'm not even sure that sliming it down would speed it up all that much.

 

Microsoft could have modeled xbox one's friends/communication app after how messaging and managing friends worked on xbox 360. Press one button everything you need is there and not open a full screen app and take you directly away from your game or other
application you may have already been running. Nope Microsoft wants to be different and break what already has been established and works well sort of like these forums.

 

Remember this is not 360 2.0...

 

The friends list needs to be snapp-able, i would be very happy with that.

 

You have an issue with it being an app? An app is an application, also known as a program. Every computerized device (including consoles) have programs. The Xbox One is no exception - it's just more prominent.

I agree with Skele. Xbox 360's current UI is beautiful and love it! Xbox 1's UI looks too Windows 8. You have to go to the avatars app not your friends list to see their avatar. Xbox 360 has the Xbox Guide. It's absolutely true apps may take a while to load.
To me navigating the UI with the controller, is faster on the Xbox 360 than on Xbox 1, simply because of the way they've designed the UI on the Xbox 1. It may not be Xbox 360 2.0 but Xbox 1 is X-B-O-X.

 

Just because it shares the same brand name in no way means its designs are automatically the same.

If hoover made a microwave would you still call it a vacuum just because its hoover?
