"Friend Request" system

So just wondering..

Is there a reason why they changed the way friend requests and junk work on Xbone?

Other than just to make things new and twice as complicated? I mean surely i'm not the only person who thought sending a request for someone to either approve or deny was a pretty nice system.

Rather than having to deal with followers and following back, or sending two different requests if you want them added on 360 too lulz.

Replace "Followers" with "Friend Requests"?

Is the oldway better? Yes. Is the new way overly complicated? No. Follow someone and they get a notification/request. They either accept(by adding you) Or leave you looking like a stalker by not adding you. Pretty simple really.

 

I don't like it either. I think it was pretty stupid to have it this way.

 

Here's the gist of it. You add someone on Xbox 1. Your friends list says your on theirs, but theirs doesn't until they've added you. If you add someone on your Xbox 1 console and they've added you, they won't show up as a friend on the Xbox 360 system/console.
Minecraft Xbox 360 version will only allow people to join if someone is friends with someone on the 360 system. Also people on Xbox 360 who don't own an Xbox 1 won't know if they have followers on their list, until they check on an Xbox 1 console, on this
site or on Xbox 1 smartglass. I like how Xbox Live asks permission (Accept or Decline) on Xbox 360 yet Xbox 1 doesn't (you can still add or block). One of my friends added everyone on my friends list and other peoples friends list and he has over 1,000 followers.
One of my friends said she never added him and didn't know until she logged on an Xbox 1 console. Some people find it hard having only 100 with the limit 360 has. So with Xbox 1, they went a bit wild. Add "suggested" and stuff. At least with 360's system it
has friend request pending and stuff. I have a full 360 friends list and 4 additional friends (not followers). It's easy to forget friends on your list if you go over 100 or even 500, I mean who has time to pay with every single person at least twice a week
if you have too many friends? The limit (is it 1,000?) friends you can have on Xbox 1 is ok better than 100. Not everyone understands it. Follower Notifications won't appear in your Messages. So you won't know if you only use Xbox 360 console or Xbox 360 smartglass.
As soon as they log on this site or Xbox 1 smartglass or Xbox 1 console.... who the heck is this person and what are they doing on here? I think there should be better differentiation between your friends and followers (like maybe asking for permission and
maybe make the friends list separate from follower list). If it really bugs me, I would be off to the official feedback site like I did for a few things including like no voice messaging. But I've accepted (well, kind'a) how Xbox 1's system does it.

 

I hate the new "following" thing too.

Mostly because a lot of the time I never even get the notifications that someone has started following me, and I have friends that i've "followed" that said the same thing.

I just realized a few weeks ago there were like 10 people following me from months back I didn't even know about lol.

 

I think you're oversimplifying it. ;-) Anything beyond sending a friend request and expecting a "accept or deny" is overcomplicated.

How am I oversimplifying it? I broke down how it works. If that is toi complicated for you people then the problem clearly is with the user and not the system put in place.

 

Lucipurr, I doubt it. It's all about followers nowadays. At least you can block people if you don't want them following/stalking you.

 

24 has the right of it and explained it as simply as is possible as far as I'm concerned. While I do think the old method was simpler, I also think the new method on the One works just fine. The only thing I wish they'd change is how your friends also show
up on your followers list - it clutters it up too much, IMO. I think once you're a full-fledged friend, you should be removed from the followers list and only appear on the friends list.

 

Why can't they an option to remove more than one friend or follower instead of having to do it one by one
