Friend Online Notifications Not Working

Had no friend online notifications today, a friend also experiencing this.

Anyone else having issues with this?

I'd be interested to know how this works actually. Does it only work for favourites? I can understand why they turned it off by default for friends now you can have 1000 (you'd have a notification every five seconds), but I don't remember seeing one at all now.

 

Yes, this has been happening for at least a couple days. In addition, A few days ago I couldn't play my digital download copy of far cry 4 for no reason. Support chat offered no compensation for the inconvenience. How much did I pay for this console? How
long has this box been out and these kinds of bugs still show up all the time? How many GB on my xb1 hard drive are being taken up by the old OS that is uninstallable? Achievements that show up days or weeks after the fact while you're playing a totally different
game. MCC? This platform is a joke.

By default the notifications for friends are only set to "favorite" to change this please follow these steps

1. Press the Home button
2. Press the Menu button (right from the home button) and select settings
   
3. Select Preferences
   
   On the left side you now see options to customize your notifications
   
4. Go to Sign-in & Broadcasts
5. Select All friends

After that could you also perform a
powercycle to ensure it's not an error caused by the cache

Sometimes the cache of the Xbox One will get clogged up because the console by default goes to standby mode. To clear this up you can perform a
Powercycle as mentioned above. Performing a powercycle fixes most common issues with the Xbox One.

Now I hear you wondering

"But I shouldn't have to do that!"

Well the thing is you don't, you can change the startup settings so your console goes in powersaving mode completely shutting off. This method however requires
longer startup times and will disable the Xbox On command. So it comes down to preference, do you want to
powercycle every couple days, or do you want to have a longer startup time and never have to worry about it.

As for the harddrive, the "old OS" get's overwritten with each update. Also you never get the full amount of space advertised
this however is not a marketing scheme but how calculating harddrive space works. To make things easy they calculate per 1000bytes while in the real world because of how computers work its by 1024 bytes. What's advertised is 500Gb while the computer because
of the difference in calculating only says about 465Gb is available, calculate all the firmware that has to be installed + the OS and default apps like Friends Snap etc... and you get the amount you see when you first got your console.

As for the achievements popping late this can either be caused by the cache or it's part of a bug that's still under investigation as it's not with all achievements. In the case of MCC it was part of 343's fault and further support for that game is on their
forums

 

Already checked my preferences and preformed a powercycle and still no friend online notifications.

 

Can you try removing your account from the Xbox One ?
support.xbox.com/.../remove-profile-from-console This might fix the issue

 

I have removed my account from my xbox one. does not function yet!

 

The same problem here, removed account, powercycle, preferences all friends etc and nothing .....

 

Also on a sidenote make sure these friends are not using an xbox360 as this will not generate a notification on the Xbox One

 

Same issue all other notifications are working it seems to be the same issue everyone had the other month as they are not being pushed to smart glass either. This is also happening to 4 of my friends and multiple users on Twitter i see tweeting Xbox support.

Things I have done

1. Hard reset

2. Recovered my profile

3. Reset my net

4.made sure all settings are on / turned them off and on

5.Had a disc reading issue and swapped out my Xbox at my local GameStop with a new Xbox set it up and problem still persists

 

Yes when my friends come online on xbox one , no notification.

 

2 days the problem still here, i have turn for favorites and all friends and nothing ..... But the others notifications works perfect, achievements, upload etc ...

 

@Vaughn057 have you made sure the friends that are signing in are not signing in on their 360 ? because this does not give a notification on the One

 

@FearedNightmare pretty sure most people are aware that signing in the 360 does not give a notification on the one so that clearly isn't the issue.
