Friend online notification won't stop

About a day ago, whenever this friend of mine comes online, me and some of his friends get notified that they are online whenever they finish something online in a game. Like in GTA, whenever we finish a job, or when he finishes a match in SMITE, its; _____
is online. Anything that involves the movement of his account in an online game forces his profile to show him offline for a seconds, then he comes back on, or something like that.

He tried going to his profile, setting it to appear offline, and set it back to online. But it still does it.

Friend online notifications?

I'd be interested to know how this works actually. Does it only work for favourites? I can understand why they turned it off by default for friends now you can have 1000 (you'd have a notification every five seconds), but I don't remember seeing one at all now.

They've removed that feature I believe. Does seem a bit silly, but I guess it's due to the increase in the number of friends. As @Munkey Boy said, ideally you could set X amount of favourites and have notifications for just those.

Seems to be quite a lot of people unhappy with them taking this out, so hopefully they'll put it back in at a later date

Hey mate,

Two things for him to try that could work:

1. Try a hard boot of the console. To do this, have him be on the home dashboard screen, then from there hold the power button on the front of the console down for 10seconds until the console switches off. Then wait a minute or two, before switching it back
on.

2. If that doesn't work, have him remove his profile from his xbox, then add it back again.

Those two things can fix quite a few different issues, so get him to give it a shot and let us know how it goes

But that stops them from seeing you are online at all. How do you stop sending notifications that you are online but still let them see you are by going to their friends tab. It’s the notifications are the privacy problem.

How long, does the light flash for..?? Is it constantly flashing or does it flash about 6-7 times & it stops... Everytime, you get a notification.. [ie one of your friends logs on or you get a message..] The lights, on the Controller/s & Console, will flash
until all notifications have stopped...

You could be getting a notification when you start game.. For how many friends online, what friends are playing MW3 & Lights will flash etc...

Same thing is happening to me & all my friends that i've spoke to lately. It all worked fine until the last update. Friends/favourites coming online notifications have also stopped working on the smartglass app ?!!

I had the same thing happen to me. They hop in your friends list. But won't show a friend request notification. That person will be following you they'll have about 80 friends and no gamer score block them and report them and then call your bank and tell
them to stop all transactions

A couple weeks ago, I stopped getting notifications through the Xbox app (iOS) and my Series X when my favorited friends come online. I’ve verified that the settings for those notifications to be sent are on in both places and I’ve even tried removing and reinstalling the mobile app to no avail.
