Friend Lists Broken?

My friends list has stopped refreshing over the last few iterations of the Preview Program. I'm currently on version (rs3_release_xbox_dev_1710.170920-1900) and friends indicated as active show as having being offline for many hours (when viewed in full
profile mode) and favourites who are active are not having toast notifications triggered when they log on (or showing on my now static friends list).

I've also heard from some that my own status cycles between 'coming online' multiple times on their screens while we're on long game sessions.

I've reported on this via the console feedback mechanism - but wanted to check if this was an isolated case that could be addressed locally.

Skylark, your ideas are awesome! I think they should be implemented as soon as possible but have the Xbox people thought about it too? Maybe the Live feature is still new and they're working on it.

Currently X-Box LIVE offers a very simple friend list to those who have an account. It can hold 100 accounts in the list, which offers no organization or customization whatsoever.

I think it should be refreshed and updated. You should be able to make a sub-list of your friends which offers additional functions. For example, if you create a list because you host a clan, you could utilize a "send message to all" button which would send a message to each person on the clan list.

I also think that the limit to your friends should be kept at 100. However, an additional list should be introduced to the system. A list which features only users which you have tagged as an "acquaintance." This one should be unlimited and will not request them to be your friend or give them a notification for your status or beacons. Instead, it's just a list. That's it. The benefit I see from this is that you can then keep your friends list full of the people who are actually actively your friend. Anyone who you haven't hung out with lately can silently be shifted to the other list upon the user's request.

As one final thing, I think a small list of "best friends" should be included. The best friends would be entrusted to admin rights to your things, for example if you host an online game and you go AFK, get disconnected, or your batteries die; if you have someone in your "best friends" list present, they'll become the host automatically. Also, they will be able to see status updates about you that normal friends wouldn't, such as when you are in a hidden game. It should be all about privilege.

 

This is happening to me aswell.

I used to be in the Preview Program but didn't rejoin when I got my Xbox One S Launch Edition over a year ago & I just started having this same problem last week Sept. 23 2017. Also, My friends weren't getting my invites & I wasn't getting their invites
during this time. Phone Support did help me get it started working again after 2 days of back & forth but it froze up again the next day. I have over 900 friends & over 600 followers, so it is not easy to find who I'm looking to play with if the Friends List
isn't working properly! I really dread having to spent Hours on the Phone with Support again just to have it happen again the next day & I have seen a few others reporting the same problem on Twitter & now here, so it's not just me & it's not just Preview
Program Members bc I'm not in Preview & neither are some of the others reporting this on Twitter. It's also only happening to only some people not a lot. When the store went down last weekend that did not effect my Xbox Store but my friends list went to showing
0 friends online at that point. Then the next day after the store was fixed for everyone else I received a call back from Phone Support & something that guy did while on the phone with me got my friends list back up & working but only for about 24hrs then
it froze again. I really think this is something you at Xbox should look further into & not blow off as a random thing effecting only a few people! One of my friends that I play with almost everyday had the same Problem over the weekend also
