Friend being offline though he is actually on

My friend is offline my xbox says for me but actually he is on plz help

Not showing I'm online

i have been having the same problem, but my friend says that its me not appearing online, even though i checked my privacy settings, and everything is fine. i also made sure that i am appearing as online, but i still appear offline to him, and we cannot
connect ingame. any suggestions or help?

Sorry to hear it. If your friend has a pc running windows 10 then have him log in to the xbox app there and select the option to show online. That should fix it.

 

Hey Swag Duck! It might just be easier if your friend reaches out about this themselves, if this is specific to their profile.

Do you know if your friend has their profile set to appear offline? That's a privacy setting they can make from their profile directly. If so, you won't be able to see when they are online - it's possible they even set it to appear offline and then forgot
to change it back. I've done that a few times.

 

My other friend can hear and talk to both of us just fine in the party but i can't hear my friend and he can't hear me

Make sure that both you and your friend have open NAT types so you can connect with each other.

 

No its not a party chat issue, when i look at my friend list it says he is offline even though he isn't and i can't talk to him. It also seems like we don't get each others messages and notifications

 

I have this issue too. It says I am connected with no multi-player issues but I cannot connect to Xbox Live. My 3 friends in the UK are not showing as online either and they are supposed to be right now. I have a found other evidence online that others
are having this issue but Microsoft are not reporting any issues.

OK, signing out of my profile and back in again seemed to fix it.

Mind clarifying for me if the user is set to appear offline like in my first reply? Does signing out and signing back in work for you the same as it did for Quaza?
