    I'm using my new AOC G2590FX monitor and today I tested it with my Xbox. Knowing it has freesync, I headed to the TV & Display Options, where Variable Refresh Rates was greyed out and I couldn't select it. I've power cycled my Xbox and everything, and
    it the monitor is set to 1080p60 in Xbox settings, but I've had no luck. I've found other forums saying I need to enable Freesync through my monitor - but I cant find an option for it, and they tell me to make sure DP version is on 1.2, which it is (even though
    I'm using HDMI). My monitor is Freesync supported and I'm using an Xbox One S, which is Freesync compatible. I've asked on Reddit in two different subreddit, and nobody can seem to give me a definite answer.

    Hi dyl1x,

    Great monitor, don’t have one but looks tidy and has decent specs. With monitors, I would look at the manual. I tried look on the AOC site but could not find it.

    First of I would swap the Xbox HDMI cable with the one that came with the monitor. The monitor HDMI is more than likely built to 1.4 standards.

    Secondly, look for the freesync option in the manual and how to enable it. It could be hidden in loads of sub menus.

    Also look in the monitor manual to see if your monitor accepts 1080p/120hz over HDMI 1.4 and that it has not restricted fast response to just the display port.

    Yeah, my monitor supports 1.4 only and I use a 1.4-capable cable.

    I don't know that specific monitor, but some monitors only support Freesync via Display Port. So if you connect your console via HDMI, Freesync might be unavailable, if the monitor doesn't support Freesync via HDMI.

    For more information you should contact AOC or check the user manual for that monitor.
    I search a bit of infos about this monitor and seems that support FreeSync via HDMI.

    IMO the option must be enabled in the settings menu.

    I can't find any FreeSync options in any of the display settings on the monitor, I've searched the menu for ages and found nothing, and also googled it.

    In your monitor can you find a setting to enable Freesync?

    Are you using the original Microsoft HDMI cable or at least an 1.4 or 2.0 cable? because if you are using an older version freesync can't work.
