Is it possible the OP meant paying a one-time fee and getting unlimited Xbox Live?He didn't really specify for free.In which case that'd be a pretty cool idea,or even just having the option to buy something higher than a 14 month
membership.How about a 3 year membership at a discounted rate?If Xbox Live is $50,maybe pay $100 for 3 years.It'd be like,buy 2 get 1 free.

As cool as it would be,I don't see Xbox Live being free any time in the near future.

Would be nice, but not beneficial. The money they make from Gold helps keeps the servers online and up to date with hardware that is currently. If it were completely free (like PS3 was) you'd see a lot more down time and least stability.

 

Well, you can't just have it all, PC got free online but it costs significantly more to get a decent one. And tbh, 60$ for a whole year of free online play, great deals and discounts and 4 FREE GAMES every month, sounds like a great
deal to me.

 

That would be super nice but unrealistic. Live subscriptions help Microsoft deliver a quality, consistent service dedicated not only to game enthusiasts but to entertainment seekers as well.

 

As others have said that is not realistic. Everything required to provide that kind of service costs money and someone has to pay for it. I agree that $60/year is minimal considering there are no limitations on how much you can use it.

 

While it sounds very great, you have to remember that you are paying for the development, updates, security, maintenance, consistency, and many other features that Xbox is able to provide!

I would love it, but Xbox uses the revenue to make the service better.

 

One suggestion here- if you live in a region where the Microsoft Rewards program is available and Xbox Live Gold memberships are available as prizes, you should look into it. You can get points daily for doing things like Bing searches, then redeem those
points when you have saved up enough. It would take a few months, but you could get a year of Gold that way.

 

Regrettably, nowadays, there is no such thing as free! I'm happy to pay a fee, to make sure something excellent, is made even better in future and maintained well, so no quibbles here!
