Free Xbox live account not working

So I created my free Xbox live account on my laptop but I can't use it on my Xbox 360. When I try and sign up on my console it just tells me the email address is already in use by a different account. None of my achievements or GP have come across to my
profile as I created it on my laptop and I can't use this account to buy anything on my console. Is there any way to connect the account I created to my console or do I have to make a new account with a new email address through my Xbox 360 and just ignore
this account? Thanks for any help

Xbox Live Confusion?

Xbox Live is free.

You can make a Gold account, or a Silver account.

The Gold account gives you access to access to play online, along with free monthly games and weekly deals. This has a fee.

The Silver account gives you access to Xbox Live and apps, but you just can't play online or get the free games. This is free.

 

Do i need xbox live

Yes you will need Xbox live. It works out at around £3.33 a month.

Keep your eye out for some bargains on Xbox live.

I think you might still get a 1 month free pass when you set your account up via the Xbox.

You can currently get a 12 + 1 Month Xbox Live Gold Membership from CDKeys for £29.90.

 

To use the account you created on your laptop, you would need to download it to your consoles -

support.xbox.com/.../download-your-xbox-live-profile-to-another-360-console

If you already had a profile on the console, there is no way to merge the two.
