Free up space on internal

How big is your internal storage device and how much space is left? Maybe try moving some games from there to your external Toshiba drive to free up some space on the internal drive.

It depends on the size of the internal drive on a 500gb drive you have around 380 GB of free space so around 120gb is taken up for the OS captures and formating of the drive and internal files. On a 1tb drive is around 780gb of free space. And yes the console
would show a message saying its full

Is there maybe a way to get onto the console and actually browse where fortnite might be installed and see if there is any files hanging around

Do you use an external USB 3.0 hard drive?

If you just check the free space in the "My Games and Apps", the free space shows the "cumulative" free space.

For example:

You got your Xbox One, and installed Fortnite and some games a while ago on the internal drive, filling it up.

Then you got a USB 3.0 drive and got lots of free space on it.

Then the old games updated, and filled the internal drive even more, and now the internal drive is full, failing the update, as Fortnite can't install on the full internal drive, despite the external drive showing still 170GB free.

You can go to Fortnite in the My Games and Apps, and press the Menu button on the Game tile.

Then choose to manage the install, and you should see each and every bit of data for the game.

Are you installing the game and DLC on the same drive (e.g. an external USB drive)?

Can you try moving the game with DLC to another drive (e.g. to the internal drive if installed on an external USB drive and vice versa)?

Can you also check that you have enough space on this very drive you try to have the game and DLC on (instead the "total" free space shown on the My games and Apps screen)?

For example, you have the game and DLC B installed on the internal drive. The Internal drive now only has 500MB of free space. However, an external USB drive still has 9GB free. So while the console shows 9.5GB free space, the DLC won't install because there
is not enough space on the internal drive.

Also if you have an external hard drive, check if there is enough free space, if not set the internal one as default ( if still enough free space too ).
