Discus and support Free-to-play games still require Live Gold in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; So I booted up my XBOX this afternoon to play Fortnite, and XBOX is still telling me to pay to play free games.     Free-to-play games still require Live Gold


    So I booted up my XBOX this afternoon to play Fortnite, and XBOX is still telling me to pay to play free games. I thought this was changed back in January? Had a gamepass ultimate subscription for the past 3 months.

    i want to know are you making xbox live gold free? and when will i be able to play free online games on xbox one?
    No. They are not making Xbox Live Gold free. They are only make games that are "free to play" such as fortnite for example, not require you to have gold to play online.

    Other games that are not "free to play" will still require a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play them online.

    There is no date announced yet for when free to play games could be played online without gold.

    free games need live as they are still full titles with multiplayer and online features and some also require xbox live gold to be played just like games with gold games

    Fortnite is a free-to-play game which means it does not require an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

    Xbox Live Gold subscription is not just required for free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone 2.0 etc.
