    Free to play games still require gold?


    Recently, Xbox made a change to xbox live gold and stating that it no longer requires gold membership to play free to play games. Its been a week after my membership expired and I opened Fortnite which is a free to play game and it still says that it requires a gold membership. Is this a bug? Or did they undo the changes or something because I’m really confused since thay said it doesn’t require gold.

    Some of the Games recieved from "Games for Gold" no longer allow me to play them.

    360 Games with Gold games can be played without an active Gold subscription. Xbox One games required a Gold subscription to continue playing them for free.

    Currently, you still need Gold to play all games online. They are working to remove the requirement from free to play games, but you do need Gold to play Apex at this time.

    Free-to-play games will be playable without Gold, but Gold will still be required for non-free games. So Fortnite you can play without Gold. Call of Duty would need Gold.

    gold is still a requirement, playing free games without gold is on the way and is in testing phase, until they announce a date you still need gold.

    They recently announced they are working on making them playable without Gold. They haven't announced when that will take effect.

    free gold weekends just let you play online for free you still need to have gold to download stuff that requires a gold membership like the free games for gold members.
