Free to play games should allow multiplayer to be playable without xbox live gold

I will never understand the policy of why games that are free to play like defiance, neverwinter, etc and buy to play games like destiny and elder scrolls online only can be played if you have a xbox live gold account. I'm no fanboy of anything but I will
say that the ps4 does get the free to play and buy to play feature right by making it playable by people who don't have ps plus. It just does not make any sense to me whatsoever why I can't enjoy a game like world of tanks when my subscription runs out and
I'm waiting to sub again. I honestly would like that policy to be changed or do I have to go on user voice?

Fortnite battle royale

Please allow fortnite battle royale to be played without xbox live gold. This ruins the free to play dynamic

You need a Gold Subsciption to Xbox Live to play online multiplayer. Xbox has two types of Live servce Xbox Free and Xbox Gold, Free subscription will not allow you to play online. You can purchase a Gold Subsciption through the Xbox Marketplace from the
Xbox Dashboard.

You don't need gold any more on Xbox One. I have heard of people who claim they do but I don't. (unless they changed it in the last few months)

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your post! Any game with a single player mode/campaign should still be playable without Xbox Live Gold. If you attempt to play a multiplayer mode without your subscription, then you will be asked to purchase Xbox Live Gold to play online.

Thanks for posting, the reason that Minecraft is not allowing for these functions seems to be attributed to the lack of an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Xbox Live Gold is needed to play any multiplayer functions in any game, this means that all games that
have a single player option are playable but, if a multiplayer option is there, a gold subscription is needed to play it.

Technically you do not need xbox live gold to start up the game, but you still need to have it since this is a multiplayer game and therefore is not playable without gold.

Free-to-play games will be playable without Gold, but Gold will still be required for non-free games. So Fortnite you can play without Gold. Call of Duty would need Gold.
