Why is Xbox live gold a paid service? Shouldn't it be free? When you buy a game you can't use half the features unless you've got gold so its pointless being the game, or an Xbox at that matter, I've been thinking about swapping to playstation because
it has free online. Shouldnt Xbox live silver make you able to go online and have deals on games to say thank you for using Xbox, and then gold could be the games with gold feature, better and more deals? Doesn't that make a lot more sense for it to be like
that or is it just me?

I believe you pay for online play on ps4 now.

Microsoft have ALWAYS charged for online play and always will, its a business.

 

Playstation Plus is a paid service as well.

 

The PS3 still has free online play but would it be worth switching to it so late in the life cycle if online play is all you are worried about?

Microsoft and Sony have realised that console gamers are willing to pay a gatekeeper to play their games online.

If you want free online then you'll either need to go to the PC or the Wii (U).

 

No i know, but it shouldnt be a paid service, it should be free as there making you pay to use every feaure o% the game, if they made it free, I expect a lot of other people e.g. PC/ps gamers would get an Xbox due to its many exclusive features, I have started
playing on a ps3 recently and much prefer the CoD connection on it, think I might make the switch for online.

 

The money they would lose on subscription fees far outweighs the extra consoles they would sell.

I definitely recommend you move over to ps3 as microsoft will never change, plus no one here cares if you move to sony.
