    How come even thow i never changed my gamer tag it say i did and no one changed it if you look at my acount my name has been the same since i made my acount

    Free name change

    If you created the account on the console - you do not get a free name change.

    If you created it on the website - or were assigned a GT from an exiting Live account, you would get a free name change.

    If you created the account when you were able to select a GT at sign up you are also Unable to change your name for free one time.

    the free name change for system created tags are only good for the first 30 days and only when created on the console.

    If you're talking about the free name change when you first create the account. That is only valid for the first 30 days. If you don't change the name in that 30 days, you lose the opportunity to change it for free.

    Your gamertag is not a random Microsoft generated one so it's been changed at some point.

    No it doesn't cost them really anything to do placebo, but without that cost for 1 it gives people more ways to be annoying on live and get away with it. This is the same as with most mmo's for example that offer a name change

    It's greed pure and simple, most people would need to only change the name of their gamertag once or twice so the first two or three should be free, hardly annoying if someone on your Live changes their name two or three times...
