Free month subscription to gold...

I have recently signed up for the free month of Xbox Live Gold, and every time I try to play multiplayer COD Advanced Warfare, it still says I do not have a gold membership and that I need to purchase one. But I was told that I got a free month when I subscribed.
So now that I have subscribed why am I not able to play online?

FREE one month gold membership

How do I redeem my free one month Gold membership? When I selected the Free option it forced me to enter a payment option and my renewal subscription to Gold. My credit card was charged for the one month and there was no notification that i will receive
my free month subscription.

Seeing that your post is from a couple hours ago, your problem may have occurred while there was a
problem with the Xbox Store servers today, which affected new purchases and accessing purchased content.

The servers appear to be running fine now, so you should be good to go.

There are some free games and if you have a Gold subscription, there are free games you can get each month as long as you have a Gold subscription.

The free month of Xbox Live gold can be applied from the account creation process if you are making a new account.

If you already have a Microsoft account and don’t have an active Xbox Live Gold paid subscription, you may be able to sign up for an Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription.

Here’s how to sign up:

Sign in to the Subscriptions page with your Microsoft account.
If you’re eligible for a free trial, you’ll see Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial as a subscription offering. Select Gold – 1 Month FREE Trial, and then select Next.
If prompted, add a payment option to your account. If you already have a payment option on file, you can use that.

Important At the end of the first (free) month, your trial subscription automatically turns into a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription that renews monthly by default. The paid Xbox Live Gold subscription will renew to the payment option you
added to your account.

If you don’t want the Xbox Live Gold one-month free trial subscription to renew, you must cancel it. See “How to cancel an Xbox Live Gold trial subscription,” below.

You bought one month of gold, so you're not eligible for the trial of one month!

Thanks for answering. I think it is worth mentioning that I activated the free month Gold in the first place. As with this subscription it was not possible to access free games I redeemed a 12 months subscription. May be is this free month still in effect
some how? How can I remove it?
