free month + 1 month for £2

Hi, was offered a free month on xbox live from within Xbox this morning but when I checked online it was 1 free month + another month for £2 - I wasn't offered this, just wondering why?

Free Gold for 1 month and Gold for $1 for 1 month = 2 months for $1?

If I activate my free gold for 1 month and then purchase the gold for $1 for first month, will I get 2 months of Gold for $1?

Secondly, will I be eligible to download the free Games with Gold? Or would I require the full $60/year subscription? (Or monthly)

Ah okay I have been a member for a while now but can't remember if I ever used the free gold trial. I saw it as an option on a webpage somewhere. I guess I could just try to see if it worked. I was just concerned that if I did the free trial and then did
the 1 month for $1 it would overwrite the free month. But for $1 I guess I couldn't complain! Thanks.

 

Promotions are sent at random and to different accounts for different reasons. There is no way to know why one account gets a promotion and another doesnt.

 

yes, one of my friend has received 4€ gift card free from the xbox live in order to celebrating the summer sale (but for my part, i have nothing )
