Free Gold 1 month trial issues

Got a message from Xbox Live earlier that reads

"Hey! Just a reminder, you are eligible for a free one-month trial to Gold. Don't forget to take advantage of this great offer! Select the “Launch App” button to get started. Launch site"

And when I click on it, it wants to charge me 9.99 is this a glitch or how do I redeem this?

I did not get 1 month free subscription

free 1 month gold trial, once the trial is up it reverts back to free/silver account

 

Hey SniperTheSwift! Are you able to see the promotion correctly if you open the message via PC or mobile app? Additionally, do you see an advertisement for the trial on your dashboard when you turn on the console? If possible, post up screenshots of what

My mobile app doesn't give me option to open it and I can't open any messages on pc right now for whatever reason.

Yeah don't know where to look for it, where would it be on the dashboard?

 

Hey SniperTheSwift! If you're eligible, it will be displayed on the Home screen. Specifically it is to the right of your My Games and Apps tile and your recent games tiles. If you're not seeing it there, unfortunately you're most
likely not eligible for an Xbox Live Gold promotion. Post back and let us know!

 

Then why do I keep getting messages from Xbox Live if i'm not "eligible" and I just bought a month because i'm done with this back and forth. Wonder again why I quit Xbox for a long time.
