Free gamertag change

The Xbox enforcement team has recently changed my Xbox live gamertag from "She was 18 thou" to "". I understand why my gamertag was flagged as inappropriate but I feel as if I should be the one to change my name to something else, instead
of having them randomly generate a name for me and force me to pay $9.99 to change it to something less ridiculous. I enjoy playing my xbox but I don't see myself going under the name or paying $9.99 to change it, hopefully this can get resolved
because i'll be canceling my membership if my name has to stay as

Gamertags to be Recycled 5/18/16!

Yeah, this is just in case you wanted one of the old gamertags...really shouldn't give free gamertag changes because they are recycling gamertags lol

Sorry, but there is no way to get a free gamertag change. That policy is per the code of conduct which you agreed to. If you want to change your name you will have to pay or create a new account.

There is a slight correction too that. Based on your tag I

don't believe it applies.

You can easily change your Xbox Live gamertag. If your gamertag was created for you during your initial Xbox Live sign-up (meaning, you did not choose your gamertag), you can change the gamertag one time for free. Additional Xbox Live gamertag changes cost
extra.

To use the free change to your auto-generated gamertag. Sign in to your account at live.xbox.com, click View my profile, click EDIT MY PROFILE, and then click Change gamertag.

Zombified - That free change is only available for the first 30 days of an account if the system created a tag for you. The OPs original tag was one he created so he would have already bypassed the free change.

You only get the free change if the system created the gamertag for you, not if you created the gamertag. And the free change is only available for the first 30 days of the life of your gamertag.

So since you created the gamertag, you would not be eligible for the free change. You'll have to pay to change the name. At least you get to change your gamertag. On PSN there's no way to change your tag.

You cannot just request a free gamertag change. The support on the phone only change your gamertag for free since it was for privacy issues and/or your one and only free gamertag change.

So unfortunately you cannot just ask for a FNC.

You don't get a free gamertag change anymore. People would abuse the free change and create a gamertag that was still offensive. Now you have to pay to change it if you were given a forced gamertag change.

Once you use the one free Gamertag change, you won't be able to change it again for free. The charge of changing the Gamertag again is $10 if you choose to change it.
