Free gamertag change never occured?

Hey Xbox,

THis may seem far fetched, however after reading a post about free gamertag change you get after creating and xbox live account, but i've realised after two $AUD 10 name changes, I never actually got a free name change option.

My gamertags over the 2 years since i've had xbox-

Original- ToInfinitee (or something very similar)--occured in 2014

$10 change to F4T4L H0RIZ0N --occured in 2014

$10 change to (my current one)--occured in 2015

I can provide screenshots of the billing to acquire the name changes, and after 2 years i've come to the realisation i never actually received that free name change, and i was wondering Xbox was kind enough to allow my account for a free name change

Gamertag Changing

You know how you get that one time free gamertag change? I never changed my gamertag and I went to change it and its asking for the full price of 800 microsoft points. Why didnt i get the free change?

 

because you don't qualify for a free name change

It's only for new accounts after the policy change as they were all issued randomly created gamertaga not customs ones

 

If your gamertag was created for you when you initially signed up for Xbox (meaning you did not choose it yourself), you can change it one time for free. Additional Xbox gamertag changes cost extra.

Meaning if you had an autogenerated GT on account creation you would be eligible then for a free change. As you have noted, you have not had an autogenerated tag and are not qualified. Sorry!
