Free gamertag change disappeared

After the update that gave people free gamertag changes. Mines didn't work, i chose the name AlwaysPhill and then it wanted me to pay $10. I haven't changed my name before today and now i don'thave the free option anymore.

When i go to change it it says i have to pay. But i never changed the name so i should still have a free gamertag change

Hi there,

Your Xbox gamertag is created for you the first time you sign in. If you don’t like it, you can change it once for free. Here’s a way to do it on your Xbox One console:

Press the Xbox button on your controller, then select System > Settings > Personalization > My profile > Customize
profile.
Select your gamertag, then select it again to type a new gamertag or select one from the suggested list.

Change your gamertag another way or manage your Xbox profile

I would reach out to xbox support at beta.support.xbox.com. They should be able to help you figure out the gamertag issue.

I would love that. I think its a bug with the update to how gamertags work or something i just really want this fixed

If you actually never used the option, I would contact support directly. But I think if you originally made your name up on your own (as in not an auto generated one from xbox) i dont believe you have a free one to use
