    Hi. I've owned Minecraft Java Edition for a few years now. Recently, I decided I wanted to get Minecraft for the Xbox One so that I could play with my friends. I redeemed my free code for the Windows 10 Edition and downloaded it on my PC. I guess I was under
    the impression that once I owned the Windows 10 Edition I could download it for free on the Xbox since they're both Microsoft and it's literally the same game. I am now aware that this might not be the case, but still am not sure. Am I able to get my code
    refunded and use it on the Xbox instead of PC? I already have Minecraft for PC so I don't want my free copy to be used there.

    Note: I understand I can crossplay, before anyone mentions that.

    Will I get minecraft free on minecraft.net if I bought in on the windows store?

    I know that if you have already purchased Minecraft for Mac/Windows on Microsoft.net that you can get a free copy of it for the Windows 10 Edition. But if I bought the Windows 10 Edition first, can I go to Microsoft.net and get a free copy there to download

    Free Minecraft Windows 10 edition

    I always play Minecraft Windows 10 edition on my xbox 1. I was able to get a free copy since I had already purchased another type of minecraft. One day I went to play but it said I had to sign into the account that purchased the game. I don't understand
    why it took away my free Minecraft Windows 10 Edition.

    I think the way it works is if you buy the games that are cross buy from an xbox thry are playable on both sides but only if you buy them I dont think promo codes have that I dont do PC gaming to know...sorry....

    Unfortunately each Minecraft version must be purchased separately. As far as I know there would not be a away to refund the code to move it to Xbox. However you can contact Official Support to double check. Support.xbox.com/contact-us

    they already owned it for PC (in Java form). However, this does NOT work in reverse; if you bought the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version), you will NOT be given a free copy of the Java version.

    KyleCBlanchard: Similar to the answer for Poli5hedBubble, if you own the Java version from Minecraft.net, you should be able to go to your Mojang account, log in and see a key that, once entered into the Windows Store or at redeem.microsoft.com, will allow

    Unfortunately it is no longer possible to get a free copy. April 20th was the last day to obtain it.

      free copy if you bought Java Edition way back when! After Monday, April 20th, 2020, customers who purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 will no longer be able to redeem their free version of Minecraft for Windows 10 token code. Until then,
      players who bought Minecraft: Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 can still receive a token for Minecraft for Windows 10.

    I'm so sorry that you can't reedem your free copy anymore. You'll either have to buy a new copy from the Microsoft store or wait for it to be on sale.
