Free $5 for $15+ Xbox gift card purchase promotion?

Hello! Back in August of 2014, I saw a sign in a store (issued by Microsoft, not the store) advertising an Xbox promotion. It stated that for every $15 or more Xbox Live Gold membership or Xbox gift card that was purchased, the buyer would be given a free
$5 promotional gift card (with a limit of 10 per person). The instructions stated that the buyer must either scan a QR code or send a copy of the sales receipt via text to 30364 with the words XBOXLIVE. This would get the buyer the gift card, as well as
enter him/her in a contest to win "hundreds of prizes." I even took a picture of the sign so I wouldn't forget the instructions.

After seeing this promotion, I purchased two $15 Xbox gift cards (on separate receipts). I took pictures of each of them, and texted them each to 30364 along with XBOXLIVE. Within a few minutes, I received an automated reply from a company called HelloWorld
which stated the following: "ePrize MMS Alerts: Welcome! 4 msgs/month. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Msg&data rates may apply." A few minutes later, there was a second text containing only the HelloWorld logo. Since I didn't receive any more
information and had no idea how to obtain my $5 gift card, I replied with "HELP." I was then send another text from HelloWorld, but it was identical to the first one with the addition of "For questions: 866-375-7854" at the end. I called that number, and
only reached voice mail. I left a message explaining my situation--including my phone number--but never received a response.

About a month or so later, I went to the HelloWorld website to see if I could find out anything. There was nothing about the promotion on their site, so I sent an email to them via the "Contact Us" form. And once again, I haven't heard back from them.


I saw a second sign at a store just today advertising this same promotion (the sign looked a bit different than the one I initially saw, but had the same deal on it). I scanned the QR code to see if I could redeem my credit that way, but when the QR code
sent me to a website, I received an error message stating that the website had been removed. The expiration date for this deal is 12/31/14, so I want to get my $10 credit before time expires. Can anyone PLEASE let me know what I have to do to get these gift
cards? I feel as if I have already gone to WAY too much trouble for this, but I don't want Microsoft/Xbox to not follow through with their offer. Thank you!!

Hi Xbox.

I'm an Italian guy who is about to get into the game by opening up a company.

I would like to specialize in selling gift cards. Most importantly, there are the Xboxlive Gift Cards.

I would like more information on prices. The funds I do not miss so my purchases would always be for tens of thousands

of euro but I would like to understand a little better that margins are there.

Specifically, I'm interested in small cuts in both EUR and $.

Debit slash gift cards. I mainly use my debit card to purchase what I need, using upwhatever credit left over from my past gift cards. I usually have $5 or so on there. I got a system going on, where I get a free gift card or two every so often. I can't buy anything with them, but they add up and I'm able to buy a $15 game every month.

 

Sorry to hear it. However, although Microsoft's name was on the poster the offer is done by helloworld.com. If you have not yet received your codes you will need to continue dealing with them.

 

While Onyx is normally correct in cases that someone else runs a promotion, this particular promotion is ran by our Rewards team. I recommend posting in our
Xbox Live Rewards forum for this issue so the proper folks can see this!

 

Ok, thanks for the info Mister Beep. I don't believe that particular promotion was available in Canada so wasn't aware of it.

 

Actually that forum would not be the correct place either. That offer wasn't available through the Rewards program, so Rewards support would not be able to assist with that offer. The Rewards program is run by the same people who handle that offer, but Rewards
support can only assist with issues related directly to the Rewards program. The OP has already posted in that forum.

Well, it's 12/31/14 (the final day of the promotion), and since this issue STILL has not been resolved, I guess it never will be. Not too pleased with Xbox about this . . . I feel as if they intentionally tricked customers into buying gift cards without
coming through with their end of the deal. :/
