    Fraudulent charge - no help from Xbox


    My account was hacked at the beginning of January 2023. I got a notification from Xbox & changed my password.

    However a fraudulent charge was made on my account for a £20 digital gift card. I have tried to contact Xbox and told to request a refund online. I have done that but got no response for weeks. I chased it up & was told it has been automatically rejected.

    The man told me to submit another refund request as an appeal. I have done that and it was immediately rejected again - this time I got an email saying Xbox cannot refund digital items that have been redeemed.

    Thats all well & good except I didn’t buy the item, didn’t authorise the purchase & haven’t redeemed it.

    The customer service is the worst I have ever had & a victim of fraud is treat like they don't matter.

    Can anyone suggest what I can do as I am not letting this go. Paypal told me to get a refund from Paypal.

    Nobody cares.

    Hello YcatsB, unfortunately whoever gave you the information is correct, they do not refund items that have been redeemed.

    You can try to contact Xbox support via chat to see if you can at least recover your account.

    Go to: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us/

    See the bottom left part of the page and make sure that the page has the correct region that you are in (ex: United States - English for USA)

    If not, click on it then select the correct region that you are in.

    Check and confirm that you are within the available time of support under Contact times.

    Click Contact us

    Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.

    On the page, see the provided support articles that may help you with your concern. Click See contact options if further assistance is needed.

    On the next page, select either Chat online or Request a call option then follow or enter the needed details.

    Please call your credit card company and deactivate the card. Also please call 1-800-4MY-XBOX to remove the card from your account. Be sure to get the support representative to refund the charges before you cancel the card. I hope everything turns out ok.

    I have fraudulent charges on my account since yesterday amounting to USD449.

    Transaction code 800267785

    No such amount was approved by me.

    Kindly reverse the charges or else I would make a police report on this site.

    This is clearly not the first time. There is a criminal here.
