    Fraud


    I purchased a new computer and Office 365 and within a day an unauthorised charge for a Spanish version of a game purchased in South America had be charged to my account. Microsoft policy states that
    "When we detect a new location or device, we add a second layer of protection and send you email message and sms alerts." This was done in this case despite it being the first purchase on a new account by a different device in a different country.
    Further charges were also made from other counties without any messages to me before I saw the charges on my account.

    I have spoken the customer services on a number of occasions and submitted two refund requests, which have both been rejected. I have therefore reported Microsoft to the police (National Fraud & Cyber Crime Reporting Centre) for fraud for failure to repay
    unauthorised charges to my account.

    Customer support say they cannot deal with refunds and the refund team are only contactable via a form which does not cover fraud. Will someone please provide a contact that I can discuss this issue with, as I am not prepared to let the matter rest.

    Sorry to hear it. First, please contact your credit card company and have the charges reversed. They may need to cancel your card and send you a new one.

    When this is done, have your son log in to
    https://account.microsoft.com     and change his password. If he cannot log into this account you will need to contact Xbox Support via this link

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

    The best thing to do right away is change the password to the Microsoft Account to regain control of the account. If charges were made fraudulently through an account takeover, you must remove the card from the account and contact your financial institution
    to submit a fraud claim since your card information was also compromised.

    If you completely lost control of the account and can no longer sign in by ay means, I suggest contacting customer support:

    To clarify, playing the games is not fraud.

    Trying to access the account would be considered fraud.
