Fragile Play & Charge Cable

Hi,

I just wanted to flag up my concern about how fragile the play and charge kit cable is with the Xbox One controller. I used the Xbox 360 version for years, with all kinds of knocks and scrapes and no issues at all. Two days after buying the play and charge
kit for an Xbox One controller, I knock the controller off my desk by accident, it hits a carpeted floor with the result that the micro USB end of the cable is bent out of shape and won't charge the cable any more.

It's really disappointing that MS put the design effort into the new controller and console, but let details like that bring it down. I was expecting a pair of cables to last the lifetime of the console, like my 360 ones did.

I've furnished myself with a couple of Amazon own brand cables as spares now and I know the cables aren't covered by the warranty, especially went the damage is accidental, but it would be good if MS could maybe look at the quality of the cables and connectors
before other people run into the same issue, as I imagine they will over a 3-5 year console cycle.

Xbox 360 Controller does not work on my PC ?

You're using a wired controller, a wireless controller and the Wireless Gaming Adapter, or a wireless controller with a Play & Charge cable? The Play & Charge cable option won't work as that cable doesn't transport data.

 

Question regarding controllers without rechargeable battery packs

If you don't have the charge cable from the play & charge kit, that's not possible. If you do, you don't need the chargeable pack in and can just play with the play & charge cable attached to the console if you wish.

 

Broma I know what ur going through I'm on my 4th set all because the stupid cable won't charge my controller after no more than 1-2 weeks of use

 

I can concur with you there, the cables aren't the best in the world. However you can buy relatively inexpensive ones on amazon or ebay that are braided. You just miss out on the little LED on the plug.
