fragile controllers

I have a Day 1, Titanfall, and a CoD:AW one and all are working perfect. But then again I don't rage much or drop them. I knew people that went through 360 controllers like crazy from throwing them. Seems silly to me lol

 

I had moments where I wanted to throw my controllers in the past, but I just reminded myself I would have to buy a new one, so common sense won over stupidity lol

I am clumsy though and drop them on the floor a few times, but thankfully they haven't broken. Xb1 controller doesn't feel cheap to me, it's lighter but I like that and it feels more comfortable than the 360 controller.

 

I had 2 controllers when I bought my console (not day 1, but pretty close); both went bad in short order - 1 had a sticky A button; the other had a faulty d-pad on the left side. Both were also rickety and felt loose; some of the grooves didn't even match
up. However, after buying a new controller (1 of those special camouflage controllers), none of these issues seem to be apparent. It's nice and strong, doesn't feel loose, or anything. I've even dropped it quite a bit and nothing has broken yet (and I've had
it for about 4-6 months now, I think).

Personally, I think a lot of the faulty controllers you hear about are the older controllers that were released during the console launch - some sort of "bad batch" or something. While many were lucky to not have any issues with their controllers, there
appear to be just as many who do.

If you have a faulty controller that's unfortunate, but there are solutions - either a) get it fixed or b) buy a new controller. As far as I know, MS isn't in the habit of giving away free controllers if yours breaks or is faulty, which is unfortunate, but
it's really up to you as to how much you care to continue gaming without issue. For me, I recommend option A, if you can find someone who can do it, as it can often be a cheaper option.

Those 2 faulty controllers I had that I mentioned earlier? Well, my brother decided to get them fixed. He sent them off to a custom-controller designer that agreed to fix them for us. 2 weeks later they came back and as far as I can tell, seem like entirely
new controllers (and for the record, they weren't - we left our mark in various irremovable places to make sure). He had replaced parts, tightened them, etc. and all for only $40 for both controllers (a cost of which my brother and I split evenly between us),
and they even paid for the shipping and handling!

While I understand that people get upset and feel the need to complain, doing so on these forums will not get your controllers fixed or replaced. Only taking action will do that. If you're not aware of that, then at least I hope my post has made you aware
of it.

I bought my XB1 and two controllers the first week it was released. Both of my controllers work like new except once in a while the thumb sticks wander but nothing a little nudge can't fix. I use one contoller until it needs charged and then I swap to the
other. They have been almost perfect for me.

 

After I wrote a reply about this my right thumbstick came loose. I must have jinxed myself. I took it to gamestop and got €33.00 for it and bought a new controller. It feels way more sturdy than a day 1 controller.

 

Mine seems well made, and I've never had a problem with it. Have noticed I have a light grip on the controller to some of my friends; when they're playing you can hear the bloody thing creak, and when they're done it's wet with sweat.

Mine is still going like it's brand new.

 

I have 2 Day One Xbox's, and a Titanfall edition. And a total of 7 controllers. All are completely fine. They have been very durable in my experience

 

I bought my console near launch (though I didn't get day one console) and the only thing about my controller was the "loose" thumb joysticks. When I bought the Titanfall special edition controller, I didn't experience the loose thumb sticks. I have dropped
the controller a few times on a hardwood floor and it's held up pretty well.
