FPS gamers, what is the average life span of your analog sticks?

i never said that you do, but in general people do it without even realising it

I have seen how other people slam the controllers to the ground in rage, then when they calm down they just realized that they now need to buy a new controller.

Never had a problem with any of my controllers ps3,ps4,x360,x1 but i also have multiple controlles for each system that i switch between

 

My Day One controller is still going strong. The one I bought for the kids to use is nearly dead.

I suppose it depends how you play really.

I babysit my friend's kids and given the damage that I've seen them inflict on the Xbox One controllers (I told them to stop because being reckless with the controller is a costly $66 mistake), it is a miracle that they still work at all.

I know the feeling Lei. Makes me cringe watching the kids play sometimes.

 

Never had a problem with the sticks the 'a' button wears out after like a year though

$120 plus tax is a lot of money to spend on something that could have been avoided in the first place. I do my best to teach them how to treat the controllers, but that can only go so far...

I agree that it all depends on how you play. Some people will just naturally go through controllers faster.

That being said, I can also say this. With my 360, a new controller became a annual purchase (usually a birthday present). By that time, nearly every controller I had would start to get drift on the left thumb stick.

I got my One, December of 2013 and I still have the controller that came with it. So far it hasn't shown any sign of drift. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's because of the different stick design, I don't know. All I can say is that I honestly expected
to have replaced the OG controller by now.

 

The best thing for kids are rock candy controllers.

 

The X1 controller is a total different beast compared to the 360 controller. Although the 360 controller feels more solid, I find the fluidness of the thumbs stick lacking; no real feel to them, especially after using the X1 controller. I find the X1 thumb
sticks are sensitive, so I can feather my moves better then the 360. I replaced one X1 controller because junior got juice spilt on the power button..... now the button stays down.

 

I just swapped out the old sticks for some new ones a few days ago on my Xbox One controller. The old sticks got loose and had a wobble to them. That controller is secondhand and had a heap of wear already. The new one I bought the left bumper stopped working
properly so I don't really use it anymore.

 

depends on how you play and how heavy you are.... obviously if you snipe.. it will last longer.. you play trench infantry on BF games... it will last shorter... the way I play... a good 4 to 5 months before I get drift... and the buttons wear down

 

Every one of my 360 controllers would suffer from drift after about 6 months, though I never saw it as a "huge" problem. My X1 controller has been perfect since launch...knock on wood. Lol.

With the 360 it was a lot of C.O.D. and Borderlands, while the X1 was a lot of Titanfall and Borderlands; so even wear on both I suppose.

360 controllers? Only a few months before buying new rubber grips. Xb1? Day 1 controller still running fine, I did have to fix it after it's 1st month. Buy fix I mean glue it together as you could see the wiring.
