    Fps drops while gaming


    Hello all,

    I wanted to share a problem that has been happening recently while gaming. I have a lenovo legion 7i laptop with intel i9 13900hx 32gb ram and nvidia 4090 16gb graphics card and lately when I started playing warzone for the first time in this laptop, it stared dropping fps for no reason. While playing I get 120+ fps with DLSS turned off in 2560x1600res with high to ultra graphics but every few mins I will get a fps drop to 60-70 and then back to normal. I turned DLSS on, fps went up to 200 but the fps drop would still happen. I changed then to 1920x1200 resolution with lowest graphics just to see if there was any difference it would still happen, which I think with these specs that wouldn't be a problem. I installed the latest nvidia drivers, windows updates, reinstalled the drivers(with clean install this time), cleaned files, reinstalled the game, sfc scannow, and nothing changed. GPU temp stays at 60-65 degrees while playing. Also CPU and GPU usage stay at: 20-30% for cpu and gpu depends on the graphics I set. THE ONLY THING THAT FIXED IT WAS PUTTING THE LAPTOP AT HIGH PERFORMANCE MODE. When it is in performance mode I dont get any fps drop at all, and only get 10 degrees more on the gpu.

    So my question is, is there a problem that on balanced power mode it drops fps and in high performance mode doesnt?
    Or it needs to be on high performance mode due to having power demanding hardware.

    Laptops, no matter what they say are not designed for gaming. The form factor is completely unfriendly to things like heat and high power

    That's why setting it to high performance mode is working for you. All the protections put on are removed.

    High heat will shorten the life of your computer, so please be aware of this

    Are you downloading anything while playing? If so this can cause FPS drops.

    these are online games that are dependent on other people's connections for performance, in addition things like explosions will definitely affect your overall frame rate. You'll find most FPS using an adaptive frame rate to keep the action consistent
