I hope they drop X1 price 100$ in all areas and keep the kinect with it. That would be really awesome for people who have not gotten one yet.

And they might not feel slighted by the kinect if they do not like it.

I don't think it's a good thing to lose 40$ and offer discounts and a bundle so close to launch it's out of being desperate for sales not good buisness choice.

The people in Canada who want a PS4 will still get it they will just pay more like the UK and other places do for a X1 or wait for the supply to meet demand, then price will come down. They can't keep them in stock why not slow the demand down in a country
that is losing them 40$ till they can meet demand there not stupid.

 

It is wrong to launch at one price, then a few months later jack the price up.

 

No doubt about that. Guess Sony is trying to say Their Console is worth more than they mistakenly released it for. Guess doing something to beat the opposition does not always work out.

 

bstn, you are basing this $40 on full retail pricing.... So technically then when our dollar exceeds the value of the green back, then we should see a decrease in pricing... right???

The fact is, like the UK, Canada gets it up the rear, when we are physically connect via land.... we have a stronger economy, Sony is using this to there advantage.

 

Good for you go Canada!!! it's not my fault it's just the way it is 40$ is 10% of the console price it's not a small amount.

Are you missing the supply issue because you seem to be avoiding it. There are no extra consoles.

 

bstn, I was in EB games yesterday..... lots of X1's, no PS4's.... meh.... I'm not in the Sony market for anything (this guy likes Samsung)..... it really does not affect me at all, I was just posting what I found interesting... plus $70 a game (PS4)......

I don't understand your post kingvas your store had no PS4? That's what I am saying they sell as fast as they get them there in demand so why take a loss.

And as far as the dollar value issue there are like 315mill people in america and 34mill in Canada that's why it's all about the value of the American dollar. How strong your economy is dosn't matter all that matters is .90 to the 1.00$

 

When converted to other currencies, Canadians were paying the lowest in the world (as far as I know) for the console, akin to about $360 USD (which means they sold at a loss). What is interesting to me is that Sony didn't account for this at the onset, and
have chosen to instead raise the price of the console post-launch. That's never a very good thing, because consumers will perceive it as being ripped off if they didn't buy it before the price went up.

 

When the where launching the console the Canadian dollar was more valuable. The past 10 months or so it has gone down like 8 cents which adds up.

 

In January it hit bottom at .89 to 1.00

Kingvas you do know they didn't price the console at launch right? they priced it in June I think. At that point it was .98

It's always going to go up and down but it's a downward trend over the past 10 months high in May of .99 Low in January of .89 now at .90 downward trend not Sonys fault.

 

So, every retail item in Canada should be increasing in price then... right..... by yours and Sony's logic....

The retail market in general isn't this volatile to react to small currency rate changes. Oil / gas maybe.... which we supply to the states......
