I would think though that this is a concentrated incident that it has to do with tax's. If the Canadian dollar is really falling then it would make sense for their governments to raise tax's on royalty's.

 

We are currently .90 to a USA $1. Never have retail goods increased over this.... (here anyways) Canada is a wealthy country that hasn't seen any financial hardship like the States or Europe....

 

Harsh. They say Sony is losing money on every console sold. With the success of the PS4 and the masses wanting it, I guess it only makes sense to raise the price; as they've already got their install base. Shady business though, if you ask me.

Yea that is not much different in cents to the dollar. I do not know much about Canada so i am just going from the article you posted. In my life experience though i know the first thing in an economy to raise is royalty's.

@D33dles, i thought they were making about 18$ per console sold? Thats not to bad. Was that a misdirection.

 

Rumour has it MS may actually lower their price for X1 in Canada. As always some grains of salt.

 

Canada used to keep the dollar really low compared to the American Dollar.

This worked out very well for them as the USA is their biggest trading partner (largest unprotected border in the world etc...).

But in recent years it's been in the interest of the States to decrease the value of their dollar against the Canadian one.

The result is prices have been going up in Canada for a while now.

At least it's not the XBox that's gone up.

 

This was information I read before the release. It would appear you are right according to the site I just read. Sony is ever shadier than I originally thought then; assuming the article is true of course.

So it's .90 to 1.00 at 400$ so if they don't raise there price they should lose 40$ per console that they can't even keep in stock!

Why they sell out as soon as they come in everywhere at this point so they have the ability to do this Microsoft has a surplus of consoles. How is this good news for Xbox.

 

bstn, the price is closing for the consoles, and you get more with the X1 (TF bundle for example). How cant this be nothing but good news for MS Canada??? They are probably all cracking beer right ow!

 

How exactly is this bad news for Xbox. It is completely unrelated.

If Rippen is correct then it is great news as it will then cost less for an xbox than a ps4.
