So I have had this problem with my Xbox One for quite a while. You put in a disc, and after a short time, an error shows up saying that it cannot read the disc. There is no grinding noise like the earlier Xbox One's.

So, after much troubleshooting and countless hours of reading forums, I have finally come across the answer that actually works.

    1. Take a blu-ray or a game disc

    2. put it into the xbox one, but DO NOT LET GO

    3. Wait for about half a second and then let go

    4. the Disc should shoot into the Xbox one at a faster than normal speed and your Xbox one should show that it read the disc Found temporary fix for Xbox One Disc not reading (not grinding noise) :D

Unfortunately, I have read that this is a deterioration issue with the console, so eventually, this fix will not even work.

Just make sure that you send in the Xbox for Warranty repairs before the warranty runs out.

    :)

XBOX ONE Disc Read Fix! :]

This is not a Grinding noise fix, again i am sorry i wasn't clear enough this fix is for when your Disc is not reading on the Console, the Grinding fix i can be 80% sure with you it usually has something to with your XBOX ONE not being leveled if not it's
because your XBOX ONE just leave a disc inside of it for like 10 minutes and it should be fix btw make sure it's a disc you don't care about to be on the safe side.

  3. CD Drive Noise?

You'll never have a 100% silent disc drive when it is reading data from the disc. As long as it is still reading/detecting the disc fine and not a loud grinding noise, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hmm, a clicking noise...could be the hard drive.
