    Found a bug with disc reading on optical drive


    Hi i found this problem with optical drive, i do not know if it has already been reported.

    I've the One updated.

    When you change a game disc if you, just after you have inserted the new game disc, immediately press the "Eject" button before the console has finished its disc recognition...

    after that any other game disc (others games) you insert it will no longer be recognized.

    The only solution is to turn off the console and restart it again...

    It's like the eject stop a process that have a cache and if you put a different game disc the console try to identify the game using some data from cache and some from new disc, so you have a invalid data, cose you have a cross info from two different games.

    Error 03-80-00 "DISC UNDREADABLE"

    Hello, so sorry to hear about your issue.perhaps i can help! Please try troubleshooting your issue by looking at this article?

    support.xbox.com/.../disc-drive-solution    . If the problem is not due to a scratched disc, then there might be dust on the lens of the optical drive that is keeping it from reading discs. Remove the optical drive from the console and thoroughly clean it.

    Backward Compatibility problem

    Unlike previous Xbox generation optical drives, the X1s optical drive loads the disc into the system via the edges of the disc. (disc's no longer just lay on a tray)

    Be sure to check the entire outter edge of the disc for imperfections/chips as they may help to contribute to issues such as this.

    Also the disc info is read within the space close to center of the disc. Make sure it is clean and undamaged. (Cracks, smudges etc) so the optical drive can read the codex properly.

    If the games disc in your consoles Optical Drive is scratched, it will lag on the Start up screen too..

    The Optical Drive, is trying to calibrate the Laser Diode, while the disc is inserted & it times out (counts so many seconds etc), when the disc is scratched & then enters the dashboard etc.. (Normally, it has to try again in dashboard & read the disc,
    to bring the game title up on dashboard)

    Once, the Optical Drive reads the disc title, it should load straight away...

    As I've mentioned before... Sync your wireless headset, after you are in the dashboard...

    I seriously, don't think you people, read all the posts...

    HDD reads data faster than the optical drive. You put the disc in as authorisation, it is a DRM measure.

    All games in the Optical Drive Buzz [even when the games are installed] & is to do with the composition of the discs + Disc copyright checks on the console &/or Xbox Live etc..

    GRFS discs, could be slightly thinner & lighter than the older discs & the Optical Drive, will always try to spin at the same speed to read discs.. Thus, making the lighter disc, spin a bit faster than a slightly heavier disc & make more noise etc.. [Power-Weight
    Ratio of Drives motor etc..]

    Nothing to worry about, if the games are being read &/or working fine..

    If the drive stops reading discs, then send the console in for warranty repair...
