Forza Motorport 6 (demo) stuck at starting line

Well, I came home this evening eager to try the FM6 demo that everyone has been happily talking about lately only to find that, well, it takes too long to start. Because of this and my still continuing issues with Gears of War: Ultimate Edtion, I'm starting
to believe that it may actually be my external HDD after all. It's a Seagate 2tb 3.0 USB external HDD and has only used about about 44% of it's space so far (but then again, that's nearly half) and I fear something may be wrong with it - maybe it's simply
getting too full, of has just been plugged in too long, or was unlplugged incorrectly at some point, etc. I don't really know. What I do know is that everything I've installed lately seems to fail loading in some way.

I want it to be known, up-front, that I have not yet done any of the usual steps suggested, so feel free to suggest away. Just keep track of what's already been suggeseted, my response to it, and whether I say that I've tried it or not so we don't waste
time repeating ourselves, okay?

What I am currently doing 1st, since I believe it to the be the external HDD, is I'm moving the demo over to the internal to see if it'll work there (it's smaller than GoW:UE and won't take as long). If it still doesn't work, then I'll reinstall it directly
to the internal by switching my system options (which to frank, I probably should've done already) and then redownloading it. Failing that, I'll start taking the usual steps.

If it is the external HDD, like I believe, it may mean I have to buy a new external HDD, which would be unfortunate, but is something that I'm prepared to do if I can confirm that it is indeed the cause of this (and many other) issue(s).

The good news is that I've had FM6 (not the demo) installed for months as part of my pre-order, so that should work just fine when it releases soon, provided the issue with the external HDD (if there is indeed an issue) is not very severe.

Not sure which Forza you got but Motorport 6 and Horizon 2 are must owns.

 

Purchased article "Forza Motorsport 6" but only got VIP Membership

Dear Microsoft Support,

yesterday i bought Forza Motorport 6 (Deals with Gold).

But instead of the full game i only got some VIP Membership. In the description of the article was no hint, that this does not contain the full version of the game.

Can the transaction be unwinded or do i get the full Version?

Be aware that Forza 6 went gold last week and mine started to be automatically downloaded tuesday (early in the morning)....

What we previously downloaded was just a "placeholder".

 

I'm aware that that might be the case, and am wary of that, Tzar. I realized this because as I was checking the demo under the management options, I was asked if I wanted to start downloading all of the DLC for the actual game - I will be putting them on
the internal HDD (along with the game itself later) to hopefully prevent any issues if it is, again, the external that is having issues.

I guess when 1 asks for help too much, he's seen as completely incompetent and is not given any (more) help at all... I've seen it happen before... *sigh*

If that is indeed the case, then it really is quite sad - I've always held firm to the belief that there is no such thing as a bad question, as long as it helps you learn something in the process of asking it...

In any case, the transfer to the Internal HDD failed, so I deleted, re-downloaded, and installed it directly to the internal HDD and I'm happy to say that the demo worked flawlessly - this strengthens my belief that the issue is the external HDD itself.
I will be doing the same thing with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition later this week (after I finish updating Forza Motorsport 6 and installing its DLC) to see if the same idea would resolve the issues that game has been having - I'll post the results of that
in my other thread.
