Forza Horizon - two player

I recently purchased the Xbox One S and two controllers, how do I play 2 player on Forza Horizon 3 without going online, so I can play with my son, or he can play with his friends?

Also, the game came with Forza Hotwheels, how do you back to regular Forza Horizon after playing Hotwheels as there seems to be no option to go back. Each time we turn on the Xbox and choose Forza Horizon, it now goes straight to Hotwheels?

Any help for an Xbox novice, greatly appreciated.

how to play Forza Horizon w/my son?

Forza Horizon is one-player locally, meaning only one person can be playing per Xbox. In order to get multiplayer you would need to play over Live, which would mean needing two consoles and two copies of the game.

 

Hello! In response to your questions:

1. Unfortunately the only multiplayer in Forza Horizon 3 is online; there's no split-screen local multiplayer and there's no offline multiplayer. For more information on the online modes in Forza Horizon 3, visit Forza Horizon 3/Horizon Online.
One note- while playing offline, if your friends also play the game, their "drivatars" might show up in your game as other drivers, and the AI controlling these cars should be influenced a bit by the driving habits of those friends!

2. To get back to Byron Bay on the main map, drive to the location toward the top of the map with the big "H" on it; you'll be able to go back to Byron Bay on the Horizon map. (There's also an option to do this from the "Hot Wheels" tab on the main menu,
but I can't recall if you need to unlock "Fast Travel Anywhere" or not to do it this way. "Fast Travel Anywhere" is a skill that can be unlocked by earning skill points and spending them in the "Skill Shop" on the "Progress" tab of the menu.)

I purchased the Forza Hot Wheels but it only loads Forza Horizon? How do you get the Hot Wheels game?

 

One thing I'd note- to unlock Hot Wheels (and online play), you do have to play the main game to the point where you unlock a second festival site before accessing the Hot Wheels content. This should take a few races/events before you unlock the second
festival site- I can't remember exactly how long it took me to do so, but I'd guess about 30-60 minutes of gameplay. If you haven't unlocked your second festival site, do that first, then see if Hot Wheels is available.

If you've already unlocked your second festival site and still can't access Hot Wheels, it might still need to be installed on your system. I recall that I drove to the Hot Wheels site, then was prompted to install the Hot Wheels
DLC from within the game. You could also install it from the Xbox menu using the instructions for downloading game add-ons found at this link: View and download game content and add-ons on Xbox One
