Forza Horizon - The game gets stuck at the "Xbox 360" screen when starting the game ...

The game gets stuck at the "Xbox 360" screen when starting the game on the Xbox One. Tried all the suggestions by the Ambassador, including uninstalling and re-installing this nearly 10Gig downloadable (took 2+ hours download time on Cox Cable) game. The
results were the same - stuck at the "Xbox 360" screen trying to start the game. I'm playing on a manufacturer refurbished Xbox One bought direct from Microsoft. Can this be fixed? Please advise.

Newbie question: Can more than one person play a racing game using the same video display?

Like others have said, split screen. Your screen will be divided by the number of players in the game, so each person (2-4) can play from their own perspective.

Forza Horizon does not have split screen though, so you're out of luck unfortunately. Forza 4 does however.

Sorry to hear about the issue. Is this only occurring with one game? The next step we recommend trying is

Factory Restoring your Xbox One console. Be sure to select 'Reset and keep my games & apps' to avoid having to download your games back on.

It says "Warning Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost."

Does that mean if I've been connected to Xbox Live, all my saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations will automatically be there after I've done the factory reset? I don't want to have to re-download and re-install my games just for this. I would
rather not play this game if it's going to cost me so much effort.

If you're normally connected to Xbox Live, game saves will be synced to the cloud. As stated in the other post, as long as you select 'Reset and keep my games & apps' your games will not be uninstalled.

After resetting, your profile we need to be signed back in and you should be set after that! Hope that helps clear up any concerns.

 

I did the factory reset and kept my games and apps last night. It wasn't bad, took about 10 minutes to complete.

The first game I tried after was Forza Horizon. Unfortunately, the game gets stuck at the "Xbox 360" screen when starting the game on the Xbox One. Therefore, the problem remains the same. This game Forza Horizon does not work on my Xbox One. My guess is
there is a compatibility issue that cause this Xbox 360 game to not work on my Xbox One. I just don't understand how other players got this game to work on their Xbox One.

 

I have played many hours of Forza Horizon in the backward compatible mode on my xbox one. Once in awhile the frame rate drops so low that it gets really glitzy. I usually have to start the game over. First, make certain that ALL of your Forza saved files
are stored in the cloud. There may be up to 7 files due to vinyls, tunings, races, game settings that have their own saved files. If one is missing and the others are their, then the loading will get confused and lock up. Another is that the your profile
file on your xbox 360 may be corrupted. Erase it & download the latest profile to your xbox 360 from xbox live. I hope this helps.

I have not been able to play the game since the first install when it became free for XLive Gold so I don't think I have any saved files stored in the cloud. But, I'm interested in looking into your suggestion about xbox 360 profile. First is, I thought
my Xbox One profile is my only profile on my Xbox One console. If I do have a separate Xbox 360 profile on the same console, how do I erase it & download the latest Xbox 360 profile to my Xbox One, hopefully without affecting my Xbox One profile?

I can help you with the Xbox 360 profile thing! Try this. Start at your Xbox One dashboard:

• Open the Guide menu
• Scroll down to Settings
• Select all Settings
• Scroll down to System
• Navigate over to Storage
• Select "Clear local Xbox 360 storage"

Hopefully that sorts you out!

Your instructions were very easy to follow. I did exactly that and then I realized I've actually done that last week but didn't know that was the "Xbox 360 profile reset". Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. After the reset, the system rebooted.
The first thing I tried was Forza Horizon and it got stuck at the same place - the XBox 360 logo screen. I actually left it alone there for over 20 minutes, hoping it might be doing something, but it didn't.

Sorry to hear the steps didn't work out like we wanted. To clarify, is this a disc based game or a digital download? I understand that the game is downloaded to the console through Backward Compatibility, but I guess to clarify. Do you have a Forza Horizon
disc in the console tray as well? If so, can you ensure the game has no scratches or smudges on the disc.

Also, how is the game installed? Is it installed to the internal hard drive or maybe to an external hard drive. If it's installed to an external drive, can you try deleting the game and installing a fresh copy to the internal hard drive to see if that helps?

This is a digital download I got via the Xbox Live Gold benefit when it became free for that month. The game is installed onto the internal drive. I have done the re-install of the game as was suggested in earlier posts. However the problem remains unchanged.

Just curious, have anyone heard from others having this or similar problems?

Try starting the game while disconnected from the internet. Make sure you also delete your local saves and let the game itself restore them from the cloud. Best of luck!

You're a genius! It worked!

I went offline before starting the game and it worked. It required that I download my profile before allowing me to play the game. Good thing the Xbox One allows us to toggle to the signing screen so I can connect and download my Xbox 360 profile. The signing
in took a few tries and about 15 minutes before it was successful. Once it signed in the downloading of the profile was pretty quick, less than 5 minutes.
