Forza Horizon 5, Windows 11 and Windows updates....

I was playing Forza for a few hours yesterday, a nasty storm was coming so I shut off my PC let windows update and unplugged it once it was done, The power did end up going out for a few hours, but once it was back, I booted up the PC and now Forza wants an update which it will never do, it just sits there, I open the Xbox app and Windows Store and it complains about needing a Game Services thing, So I let it do its thing, Ok, well it finished and yup its askes me again, So I reboot the PC, same thing.....

So I read a few things and nothing worked like resetting the game service, or even uninstalling it a reinstalling it, it just doesn't work, keeps asking me to install it.

So I tried to uninstall Forza with the settings menu, it practically locked it up, I can't even do anything in it other then move the window, I can close and reopen it but its a just a gear and no options what so ever, it will eventually respond, but I try to uninstall it again, same thing.

So I forced uninstalled it with PowerShell, same with the Xbox app, all went well, Reinstalled the Xbox app and it asked for the stupid game service thing again, I did it, seemed to work this time, Now Im trying to reinstall Forza, its not doing anything, its a Queue, stuck at Downloading at 0% and hasn't moved...

The only thing I did was update Windows 11, and now I can't do jack with anything related to downloading on playing a game. I should have bough this on Steam to be honest, I've never had this many problems even back game launchers like Ubisoft or EA's mess..

Any Idea's? If I have to reinstall windows, Im probably not going to install Windows 11 again, I'll ride the Windows 10 bandwagon if it ever comes down to that.

The URL you've hyperlinked is the same for both links. I can't find anywhere where it says Forza 5 does not run on Windows 11.

I'm not sure how you have lost access to your progress and in-app purchases, that is likely a separate issue. However, Windows 11 is not in beta, it's a full commercial release. It's been on general release since October 2021. Forza Horizon 5 is designed to run on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

There should no incompatibilities for games between Windows 10 and Windows 11. I'm a PC gamer and I play Forza Horizon 5 via Windows 11 and it's working perfectly.

After pulling my hair out for hours and posting this out of frustration, Its working now, and I don't have a clue as to what I did, This right here is why I can't stand the Windows store or the Xbox app, it just out right quits working then suddenly it works.

I will not be using the Windows store in future, its more of a headache than it should be.

Hi Francia, thanks for reply I play Forza Horizon 5 on my Windows 11 Laptop and unplugging the Modem/Router didn't help.

Ok, if you are planning to reinstall Windows 11 and want to keep the Forza Horizon 5 installation on your D drive without having to download it again, there is an approach you can try. Be sure to back up your important files before making any changes to your system.

Back up the game installation folder Go to the location where Forza Horizon 5 is installed on your D drive and copy the entire game folder to a safe place. Typically, the default installation location for Microsoft Store games is "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps". Locate the Forza Horizon 5 installation folder within that location.

Perform the reinstallation of Windows 11 Follow the process to reinstall Windows 11 on your computer as you normally do. This will format your C drive and reinstall the operating system.

Once you have completed the reinstallation of Windows 11, go to the location where the Forza Horizon 5 installation folder was on your D drive and check if the folder is still present. In some cases, reinstalling Windows may have deleted the game installation folder.

If the Forza Horizon 5 installation folder is deleted during Windows reinstallation, you can copy the backup folder you made in step 1 back to the original location on your D drive.

Verify the integrity of the game After restoring the game installation folder, launch the Xbox or Microsoft Store app and verify the integrity of the game. This will allow the application to detect existing game files and perform any necessary repairs or updates.
