Forza Horizon 5 High FPS Shut Down!!

Hi,

I have a RX 5700 XT with a Ryzen 5 3600 with a MSI Core Frozr L (Tower Cooler) and 16 GB RAM. It has no problem running any of the current games such as AC: Valhalla, F1 2021, GTA 5, RDR 2, etc. However, with Forza Horizon 4 and 5, when I set the framerate to 90hz or above, the game crashes instantly after it gets to the high frames like 120-130, still without any temperature issues and I had no issues with other games I mentioned. Both my CPU and GPU run with high percentages with no temperature issues, by the way I check the temperatures with MSI Afterburner. Although, with Forza Horizon 4, I can set the framerate to 72 and the game runs perfectly, but with Horizon 5, it wouldn't allow me to set it to 72hz. Even when I set it to a certain FPS, it goes above that FPS even with the V-SYNC on. I don't care about the high framerates, I just want to play the game. So, If you could help me with high frame rate issue, that would be awesome, but if you can't, then just show me how to cap the framerate to 72hz.

Have you checked if the drivers of your GPU are up-to-date? Please check it.

For a couple of days now, Horizon 5 is exhibiting a few error's and problems, Microsoft acknowledge them here:

Try those possible solutions:

So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

make sure the game is running fullscreen and not borderless.

make sure you have the latest gpu drivers.

hard cap the framerate via amd drivers FRTC. or if you can't use msi afterburner to cap fps.

I’m experiencing crashing with Snowrunner, Forza Horizon 5 and High on life. I’ve only gotten to play roughly 10 minutes then it crashes oftentimes completely shutting down my console. It’s gotten frustrating.

Forza Horizon 5 doesn't support all the wheels. I was checking the supported wheels and I didn't find your "snoopy usb v21 steering wheel"

So, probably the reason behind this crash/bug is due to this incompatibility

If you're talking about Forza Horizon 5, the auction house has been shut down while they fix some issues. You most likely won't be able to get them until it is reopened.
