Forza Horizon 5 Game Pass to Steam game save

Unfortunately, you can't get your progress in Forza Horizon 5 from Game Pass on Steam. Progress in Forza Horizon 5 is tied to the platform you play on. If you play on Game Pass, your progress is saved on Microsoft servers. If you purchase the game on Steam, your progress is saved on Steam servers.

This means that if you play Forza Horizon 5 on Game Pass and then purchase the game on Steam, you'll have to start over from the beginning. You will not be able to transfer your progress from one platform to another.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. According to Forza support at least with Forza horizon 4, the saved data cannot be shared, the following is said by them.

''Q: If I already play Forza Horizon 4 on another platform, will my game progress or items carry over to Steam if I buy the Steam version?

A: Your save file which includes progress and in-game items on Steam is completely unique and separate from any pre-existing save file that's associated with your Xbox Live Gamertag, due to technical limitations. This includes user-generated content like liveries, layer groups, blueprints, etc... However, there are a few exceptions:

Leaderboards are one per gamertag. May the best profile win.

Clubs are one per gamertag. Join once, play anywhere.

Share codes can be used anywhere.

Backstage passes and Forzathon points are linked to the Gamertag.

Gift messages that have already been redeemed on another platform with your Gamertag are not resent to the Steam version.''

Forza Horizon 5 does NOT have any announced or planned cross-progression from Forza Horizon 4. Aside from Forza Horizon 1 (which did had loyalty rewards for Forza Motorsport titles), there has never been cross-progression for Forza Horizon titles. You always had to start fresh with each game.

And about Forza Horizon 4: the lack of possibility to use the same save between Steam and Microsoft Store comes from the technical point of the each game. Both use a wholly different methods of saving which is far too much work to make them co-operate, ESPECIALLY considering that Forza Horizon 4 is way past its' prime.

For the most part, cross-save support is present in Forza Horizon 5. The only exception to this rule is for those PC players who are playing through Steam. Steam players do not have cross-save support on their version of the game.Nov 8, 2021
