Forza Horizon 4 "Playability" after PG pulls the plug?

Hello there guys,

First of all, I'm a huge Forza Horizon fan. I've been playing the franchise from the very beginning and it has become one of my favorites if not my favorite franchise.

Furthermore there are a few aspects that concern me regarding Forza Horizon 4's replayability in the future.

As we all know Forza Horizon 4 is an MMORG featuring a massive shared world that connects us to each other in a really classy way. And it does allow us to play offline if we feel like it. However, at least on PC, the game seems to rely on a permanent internet connection for ownership authentications and such. I'm okay with that however there's a "but". Let's not forget that this game was the first Forza Horizon title working officially as a live service game.

What if in 10/20 years, depending on when Playground Games decides that it's no longer viable for them to maintain their legacy games's servers open anymore, they do decide to shut down the servers permanently? Will we still be able to connect to the game at all? I don't care about online features being unavailable if that happens. I just want to be able to go back to it in 10/20 years. I mean, I'm a nostalgic person and I still go back to games that were released in 2004 and older.

I've posted this on reddit but I felt like people there didn't really know what to expect and there were both negative and positive answers. Maybe here I'll find more "qualified" people that do know how FH4's online system works as a whole and exactly what to expect in the described case scenario. I've also contacted Forza Support about this but, not only they missed my question completely as they marked my ticket as solved and left me hanging.

At the end, I know this might sound irrelevant for some but it actually is relevant for others. Some people just like to feel some reassurance that their money is not going to complete waste after a few years time. Games aren't cheap these days, imo. And yes, I know we don't own the games, we own the licenses to use them, but it's still expensive.

Tl;dr - Will Forza Horizon 4 be accessible in 10/20 years if or when Playground Games decides to shut down their legacy games's servers permanently as a way to save resources?
