Forza Horizon 4 Error Code FH501

Hello there,

Every time I try to launch Forza Horizon 4 I get a pop up saying the game is unable launch because your graphics card does not support DX12 with error code FH501. See hardware specs at the bottom of page.

After receiving this error I did the basic troubleshooting, uninstalling/reinstalling graphics drivers, ran DXdiag, double checked my BIOS clock speeds, tried to repair the game, uninstalled and reinstalled game, checked event viewer, log files, and ran a mem test. No errors were found and everything was set correctly.

After all of this I decided to buy it on Steam hoping to bypass this error and technically yes... I did. However, the game runs at 5FPS on title/home screen and will not load into game. However, the game never crashes. One thing to note, in task manager my CPU is running at 89% and my GPU at 1%, however the task for Forza says its using 100% GPU. My CPU doesnt support integrated graphics and there is only the 6900XT in device manager.

Please note, all other games run perfectly fine on this system.

Windows 11 21H2 22000.132

CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X
RAM: 64GB 3600Mhz
GPU: Radeon 6900XT
SSD: Samsung 750 Evo M.2

You may also want to check if there is any update for your video card:
Nvidia or AMD

Well im glad its not just me! I contacted Forza Support earlier this week and they have no clue.

I will post on that forum you linked. Maybe someone will have a fix.

You aren't the first to have a problem with this game and that graphics card...unfortunately, I am not sure of a solution to it.

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue playing Forza Horizon 3's demo.

It seems that the your current video card on your PC does not support Directx 12, a format that is integral to playing the game. If I were you, I would suggest following the steps here on our support page entitled

Error FH501 occurs when you launch Forza Horizon 3 on Windows 10 to try and resolve this issue.

Give the steps there a look through, try them and let us know if that helped when you get a chance.

the FH501 error seems to mean that your graphics card doesn't support DX12 or something related to the graphics card.
