Forza horizon 3 auction house grayed out

So I've recently been playing Fora Horizon 3, it's a really fun game. The only problem is that I have some cars to sell since they are pretty bad but worth a lot. Apparently you need the auction house to do this. I can't access the auction house, the tab is grayed out. It has come to my attention that I might have some setting on my Xbox live account (I am on a child account). So, on Xbox one, If I have the family organizer/administrator signed in, Which settings would I have to change in order for me to be able to access the auction house.

Thanks for the update with this information.

Your account privacy settings are correct and you shouldn’t experience any issues with all these settings allowed. The method you used to adjust the settings is also correct, I forgot to mention you need to go through family settings if in a family.

The Auction house in FH3 unlocks once you upgrade/expand your Byron Bay Festival to Level 2. As far as I know, this is the only in-game requirement needed to unlock this feature.

A few people in other forums have mentioned that you need to change your account age and have a adult/teen account for this, although I believe you only need to allow the privacy settings. Refer to this thread with the same question.

This could just be a server issue with Forza, hopefully sorted soon.

Are there any safety settings enabled on your router that may restrict online content in games?

Can you access the in-game auction house, on your account, from another device and/or network?

Is this the only Forza game (or any other game) with content you can’t access? Try to see if you can access the auction house in Forza Horizon 4, which is free to play with Game Pass. Deleting and reinstalling the game might also help.

Hi,

To access the auction house in Forza Horizon 3, first make sure you’ve completed enough of the tutorial and unlocked the festival playlist. As this is an online feature, you also need to be connected to Xbox Live.

Privacy settings: “You can see and upload community creations” - set to “everyone”. This can be done on an Xbox One or through the privacy & online safety page.

If making this change on Xbox One: This setting is in general settings - “online safety & family” then under “Xbox Live privacy” - select “view details and customise” then “Game content”.

Make sure to select ‘submit’ when making any account changes, to confirm and save these settings. (This step only needs to be done if on Xbox.com, not on Xbox One).

As you’re on a child account, an adult in your Microsoft family will need to sign in and adjust your privacy settings. You’ll also need to sign out and back in again on your Xbox console, for these changes to take affect.

Hi Dannazarov,

I believe you only need Xbox Live Gold for online multiplayer and the auction house can be accessed as normal without this subscription (this isn’t the case

on Xbox 360 though).

I would still recommend getting Xbox Live Gold. If you’re a new subscriber, your first month to Ultimate (also includes Game Pass and EA Play) is £1/$1 (or local currency equivalent). Xbox Ultimate subscription

It seems all your settings are correct, so theoretically, you should be able to access the auction house as long as you’re connected to Xbox Live and you have no suspension affecting your access.

It would be best to contact support, they can investigate your account further as to why it appears greyed out for you.

Thanks again for responding. I have clicked on the link that you stated in your message (privacy settings|Forza support), and it appears I need Xbox live gold in order to access online features.

I don't have Xbox live gold, So this may very well be the reason why I can't access the auction house.

I'll try to see if I can get a gold subscription, and if I can then I'll see if I can access the auction house and other online features such as clubs, and discover new paint designs.

Hey RainingRoses, Thanks for responding.

I have set all of my Xbox live/account settings to adult and the permission you stated in the message to everyone. The auction house is still grayed out, my festival site is at level five, and I have done multiple sign out/sign ins and full console restarts.

The view new designs feature is locked as well, because my Xbox live parental controls are locked.

The way I changed my settings is I signed into the family organizer/parent and went to General > online safety and family > Family settings > Manage family members > <my username> > Privacy and online safety > Xbox live privacy > View details and customize > game content > you can see and upload community creations > and set that to everybody.

I also set my "preset" per say to Adult defaults

More social.

Everything seems to be set at "on" or "allow" or "everybody", So I see no other reason that I am not able to access it other than that I have something uncompleted in the game itself.

It would be greatly appreciated if you or someone else who has stumbled upon this question to see if I have done something wrong (using the methods I listed above) or if there is something else that I need other than to upgrade my festival to level 2.
