    Forza 5 after system restore and external hdd


    I had to factory reset my Xbox One today. After all was said and done I reattached my External HDD and all my games CD and Downloaded ones were all back and running after a short one time mini-install?check? and got all my save files re-downloaded. All
    but one game, Forza 5. For some reason it wanted to re-download all 40GB again. I eventually gave in and let it do this, but is this normal for this title? If so I regret not having a CD based copy as 40GB is a lot to re-download (time to wait). My Forza
    5 save was safe and sound and in the end everything is back up and running just lost as to why all the other games ran without issue and Forza needed a full reinstall.

    Can I make my 360's 2TB External HDD its System Drive?

    1. Have console connected to Xbox Live to update online gamertag profile. (May need to play and save game to update online gamertag profile or add any recent achievements) 2. Carefully transfer all save data to 2TB external drive. 3. Follow support link
    Install Xbox 360 Hard Drive | Remove Xbox 360 Hard Drive - Xbox.com to remove Internal HDD 4. Turn on console with external 2TB HDD connected, and without being logged into Xbox Live; Press Guide Button on controller, and download your gamertag profile
    to external HDD. (Make sure your gamertag profile is working online, by checking to see if save data can be used on external HDD for games, as new System File should be created to external HDD) 5. Follow step 3 to install Internal HDD, and restart console
    with external HDD connected. 6. Follow support link http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/accessories/storage to format Internal HDD (You will need access to back of console for console serial number) Note: If, System File or Gamertag Profile is created to
    Internal HDD, after format; Just delete them, after you confirm that they are safely stored to External HDD etc.

    June update confirmed to have external storage support and more

    Finally, external hdd support. Now Microsoft is starting to listen to the consumers. Although they screwed up big time with the X1 policies before I'm glad that they are rectifying and try to be better. Their recent decisions have certainly restored my faith in the X1.

    Sorry you had to reset your console! Is Forza Motorsport 5 the only disc based game that you have stored on your external HDD?

    Thanks yeah it wasn't fun having to reset the console. It was a last ditch effort to fix Titanfall and it didn't even work sadly, it has been a week that I am stuck on "searching for Data Centers". EA has been no help in helping fix it.

    As for your question, no all my games CD and Downloaded ones are on the External HDD. after the reset and pluging back in the external HDD all the other games worked just fine, it was just forza that needed to full reinstall for some reason.

    Missing Xbox gold game

    Do you use an external HDD? I'm sure most do. I have a 4TB external as my main HDD with every Forza on it including 5. When you get Series X, it's as simple as unplugging the HDD and plugging it into the USB on the Series X. Done. All games will be playable
    and benefit from some enhancements. (still need to see more info on this, exciting nonetheless)
