I don't usually preorder anything but I've now preordered a few games just for the next few months:

September: Gears of War 3 Epic Edition.

October: Forza 4 Collectors Edition, Batman Arkham City Collectors Edition and the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition.

November: Assassins Creed Revelations Collectors Edition.

Damn the next few months are going to be expensive.

Pre-ordered mine and the store gave me 2 extra DLC vehicles.

I preordered my LCE through Dell. I asked them specifically if they had them in stock when i made the order. After I didn't get a shipping conformation I called them, and of course they didn't know why they didn't receive the copies to send their customers.
I then called Gamestop to get the skinny on the situation and found out it is a world wide problem with the LCE. Microsoft or whoever is responsable for printing and packaging of the LCE units, didn't make enough copies to fulfill the preorders. I called
Microsoft at 1 (800) 4MY-XBOX, and talked to a service representative about this problem and he told me after making some calls, that the LCE is being printed to at least fill the preorderrs, but they didn't have a date to start expecting them to ship. He
said I should try calling again around the first of November if I haven't heard anything by then. I didn't get specific about retail shelf units. I asked if there would be any special compensation for preorder customers and the answer was no. I also asked
about the preorder codes expiring and he told me that they don't expire. I still have my preorder with Dell and will leave it there unless they go back on what they told me at Microsoft.

As a side note, I would expect them to create a lot more LCE units for the holidays, since this game has been so successful in sales. If you feel the need to confirm what I have told you, call Microsoft. The worst part of the situation to me is not running
out of copies. It is the lack of information. A simple statement on the Forza website would have kept them from having a public relations nightmare for nothing. I can't think of another type of product that wouldn't loose customers for life for not disclosing
what is going when you have given them $80 for a preorder, and not telling you as soon as they know their will be a problem filling your order, and what is being done about it. IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO GIVE A CUSTOMER BAD NEWS THEN NO NEWS!!!

Don't waste your time with Best Buy. They had some orders reduced to fill Amazons huge pre-orders. I even had a friend who pre-ordered from Best Buy 3 months before launch only to be told ON launch day that his pre-order was canceled. They reimbursed him
and gave him some MS points and a gift card but that didn't help at the moment. He went to Wal-Mart the next day and said they had 4 LCE copies on the shelf. Naturally he picked it up there.
