Fortnite won't recognise my Xbox live account

Thank you for reaching out to Xbox forums support. If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
reset on your console by doing the following:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select System.
5. Select Console info & updates.
6. Select Reset console. [DELETE EVERYTHING]

Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything, go with that option. This will reset the Operating system [OS] of the console and allow you a
fresh start-up. Once you've reinstalled the game and your profile let us know if the issue gets resolved.

I have the same issue. I did the steps above but get this message.

Fortnite is free to play and does not require Xbox live, why do I have to create a separate profile with no subscription in order to play at the same time, it makes no sense except for being a cash grab. And now that his fortnite account is linked to my Xbox account Epic Games won't allow you to switch it to a different Xbox account.

What did you get for Christmas that is gaming related?

Hi I bought an xbox one s for my son which came with3 months of live gold and gane pass but when he tries to play fortnite it tells him to buy a live gold or sign in, when profile is actually signed in. Why it wouldnt recognise live gold on the account?
Its been like that second day.
