Fortnite Skins, etc. not showing up on Xbox any longer

My son had to re-login to he his Xbox account and now his skins and progress are no longer appearing on his Xbox. All of it is showing up on the Microsoft account. I contacted Epic Games but they keep telling him to sign in using his username and password.
We've tried that 100 times. Still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get his skins and his progress back on the actual xbox?

My son has just bought the xbox one s fortnite edition. He has set it up as all ready has an account from old one. It came with a code for the fortnite eon skin. He has entered the code as normal but has not received the skin any ideas. We have all ready
rebooted the xbox deleted an add his account back. He saved his money to buy so is not happy any help welcome thanks

Hey there, is the Epic Account linked to his Gamertag?

 

This is where I think the problem is. He changed his gamer tag at some point. If I try to change it in the "Epic Game" account it says there is already a user under that name. The user is him! Both user names are under my gmail account.

I would like to inform you that when using an email to create a Microsoft Account it can
only be used once. Unless it's added as security information but this will only be for security purposes.

With this being said it's more than likely that the main epic account he has may be linked with his previous Gamer tag which more than likely would be associated to a
different email information.

I would suggest for you to double check with him if when creating his account (the primary one) if different information was used.
